If there’s one thing I don’t like, it’s bikers using the regular lanes to travel. Stay in the bike lane! Unless you’re this New England IPA from Mikkeller Brewing NYC. The label art is on point as always from @keithashore. As for the beer, which I picked up at @beertable in Grand Central Terminal, it was OK. It was solid, but it didn’t blow me away. I think the Untappd score reflects that pretty well.

Who knew being a bozo would feel so good?

Not only is it Stout Season, but it snowed and was extremely cold in the North East this weekend. That meant I needed an extra beefy stout to keep me warm. Who do you go to when you need a beefy stout? Evil Twin Brewing, of course. At 17.2% ABV, and with the consistency of pure motor oil, the Bozo Beer is one of the beefiest stouts I’ve ever had.

So why Bozo? According to a piece in the New York Times, Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø (owner of Evil Twin) designed this beer “make fun of” the extreme flavor experiments in which craft brewers like Mikkeller often engage. Said Jeppe: We added cocoa, chocolate, coconut, cinnamon, oak chips, chili, coffee, vanilla, hazelnut, chestnut, marshmallows. It’s not a beer I’d drink, but it came out excellent, and it gets crazy high ratings.”

So, when Evil Twin made this beer, which was brewed in conjunction with Westbrook Brewing Company, they set out to make a ridiculous beer, kind of to make fun of us craft beer bozos. With all those giant flavors, and all that booze, I really loved this brew. I’ll be a bozo all day long if it means Jeppe keeps making this beer. It’s amazing!

How about you, Windowsillers? Would you be a bozo for this delicious Bozo Beer?

Let’s get supa dupa fly on the Windowsill today!

I’d like to get to know ya so I can show ya… a little bit about the great Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott. The Virginia native overcame a very tough upbringing to become a true pioneer in the hip hop game for women. You must know her hits, like “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly),” “Work It,” “Get Ur Freak On,” “One Minute Man,” and many others. Now, the First Lady of Hip-Hop (sorry to all the pretenders to the throne, new and old) is commemorated on a beer from Mikkeller Brewing San Diego, and I was excited to try it!

While Missy Elliot couldn’t stand the rain against her window, I really enjoyed having the Misty Elliott on my sill. Supa dupa juicy. Supa dupa hazy. Supa dupa strong with that ABV. For me, though, it was supa dupa smooth for a triple IPA. Not sure what hops, but whatever the recipe, I really enjoyed it. There’s also that label art from Keith Shore, perfectly “Mikkellerizing” the Queen in her inflated purple suit. Don’t put this beer down. Instead, you should flip the Misty Elliott and reverse it into your mouth hole. Cheers!

Got some skillful magic on the Windowsill today!

Last time I had A Mikkeller on the sill, we talked about Mikkeller’s new San Diego location. This time, let’s talk about their even newer New York brewery. It’s located in Queens, New York, smack dab in the middle of Citi Field. While there’s no good reason to go see the Mets play these days (sorry, Mets fans), you should definitely take the time to go check out Mikkeller. It includes a 10,000 square foot brewery and restaurant, with a 20 bbl brewhouse and a lot of single batch fermenters. They have canning line too, as well as 60 taps. Plenty of beer to enjoy there, or to take home with you! The best part? It’s open year round! Even when the Mets aren’t playing, you can go have some good beer!

Today’s brew actually didn’t come from Mikkeller NYC The Staff Magician was brewed in the San Diego facility, and my good friend @crisaura got it to my Windowsill. It’s a hazy New England Pale Ale brewed with Mosaic, Citra and Nugget hops. At only 5.5% ABV, it’s also very sessionable. I actually drank this one in the shower, which is the Windowsill you see in the photo! Like just about everything else I’ve tried from Mikkeller, the Staff Magician was pretty solid, and I love the can art by @keithashore!
