Oregon has finally made it onto our Windowsill!
Northeast Portland’s Breakside Brewery opened in 2010. Back then, it was a brewpub/restaurant, and it quickly got a reputation for having some of the most innovative and experimental beers around. Now with three locations, they do it all; from barrel aged to sour to experimental ales and stouts. I’m very excited to try out some more of their stuff.

I picked up the Salted Caramel Stout back in February at Beer Table in Grand Central, but I hadn’t found a chance to drink it until last night. It’s a collaboration brew, made alongside Salt & Straw Ice Cream (also from Portland). What I really liked about this beer is that the salted caramel flavor really stuck out. Also, unlike the typical stouts I drink, which have a much higher ABV, this one’s very manageable, so the flavors don’t get hidden behind the alcohol. My wife even liked the Salted Caramel Stout, and she doesn’t like stouts at all. Very smooth, very tasty, but also very drinkable.

There are more sweet and tasty stouts on our Instagram, so check it out!
