The window sill is heading back to Queens for another IPA from SingleCut Beersmiths!

Have I mentioned how much I love SingleCut Beersmiths? This the fourth offering from the Queens, NY-based beer maker to grace my window sill, and I have, once again, come away very impressed. The Jim is Workin’ Hard, which I picked up at my trusty Grand Central Terminal Beer Table shop, is a session IPA. In fact, it’s my first foray into a session beer from this great brewery. Once again, I came away impressed. First of all, the name is another callout to owner Rich Buceta’s love for hard rock music. For this one, Buceta dug into his KISS catalogue. The 1974 song “Deuce” opens up with the following lyrics: “Get up / And get your grandma outta here / Get up / Old Jim is workin’ hard this year.”

Now, I don’t know what Grandma did, and the song is pretty sexist–Simmons has said that the song is basically about how a woman should “support” a man when he comes home after working all day–but Jim Is Workin’ Hard is a pretty solid name for a session beer, especially if you know the history of why session beers came to be. This beer definitely supported me after my hard day of work—with delicious hoppy goodness and some crisp citrus, pine and resin flavor. If you’re working hard this year, have some of these on hand.
