Looks like the window sill is spending another day in Montauk. Get your swimsuits ready!
While preparing for this post, I had the pleasure of emailing back and forth with Vaughan Cutillo, one of the founders (and head of marketing) at Montauk Brewing Company. I asked him to explain “come as you are,” the brewery’s motto, and he said this: “Whoever you are, wherever you’re from, come to Montauk Brewing Company and be part of our family.” After the gracious manner in which he answered all of my questions, I really have to believe that they truly mean it all, which made me an even bigger fan of this company.

Today’s window sill beer is the Watermelon Session Ale, and believe me… it’s a doozy. The beer, which is a filtered pale ale with “slight hints of watermelon,” was first brewed for the taproom in the summer of 2016. It was such a hit, that it even outsold their Summer Ale at the brewery (that’s a big deal). This summer, they canned it, and I think it’s going to be just as big a hit. When they say “hints” of watermelon, they mean it. It’s very subtle, but very refreshing. Combine that with the lower ABV, and this might just be the perfect summer beer, whether you’re in the Hamptons or not. Thanks again to Vaughan from @montaukbrewco for all of this information.
