Today was a very nice, warm day on the East Coast. Time for a refreshing fruity windowsill treat.
This is the fourth Samuel Smith Old Brewery beer to grace our window sill, but there’s still plenty to talk about when it comes to this classic Yorkshire brewery. Today, let’s discuss the shire horses. Samuel Smith prides itself in tradition, and the way they distribute their beer is no exception. Five days a week, local deliveries are made using a wagon pulled by a small team of dapple-grey shire horses. They are among the last active dray, or “draught,” horses in the world. Who needs clydesdales, anyway?

As for the Organic Apricot Ale, I’m really starting to think that Sam Smith makes the best damn fruit beer in the world. As with the strawberry ale we previously had on the sill, this beer is delightful. The apricot aroma hits your right when you open the bottle, and the flavor immediately shines through in matching fashion. It’s fruity, light, refreshing and unique. And it’s organic, so it’s good for you, right?

There’s more old timey beer on our Instagram, so go check it out!
