It’s cold in the North East, which means we’re going back to Stout Season!

Ohio’s Platform Beer Company was founded in 2014 as a place not only to make good beer for the public, but also as a place for aspiring brewers to hone their craft. Platform makes its own delicious beers, but they also give brewers the chance to make their recipes for the general public. They offer hands-on training with their own brewmaster, help with business plans and financial projections; they even help with logo and brand design. They truly pay it forward in hopes of creating the future craft brewers of America. Pretty cool.

A lot went into the Cocoa Suave. It’s a Mexican hot chocolate stout brewed with five kinds of malts, Galena and Crystal hops, cocoa, vanilla, lactose, cacao, cinnamon, cayenne pepper and nutmeg. My favorite part was the late heat I got from that cayenne finish. I almost didn’t taste it until nearing the end of the beer, which was a really nice surprise.
