Avast ye, Matey! The Window Sill is settin’ sail on the high seas today!
It’s been a while since Thimble Island Brewing Company have made an appearance on the window sill, but I have another winner from the Branford, CT-based brewery for you guys today.
I really enjoy the barrel aging process. For me, it’s the best way to infuse a beer with flavor. This Maiden, which was released just once back in 2016, is a Saison/Farm Ale aged in oak Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. I bought it several months after it was released, and then bottle aged it for a few more months. In the end, the Saison yeast combined really well with that fruity wine flavor and oaky goodness. It’s got some funk and some late tartness that I liked.
