If it’s at least 50% beer, it belongs on the windowsill.
Grapefruit is a funny thing for me. Whenever I see it, I think… “How refreshing! This could be delicious.” Unfortunately, whether it’s for breakfast, a snack, some juice or even a beer, it never really hits the spot for me. That’s not to say grapefruit isn’t great. It’s just not for me… until the next time I see some on a hot, summer day. It could be delicious? This brings me to today’s beer, the Schöfferhofer. If there’s one thing the Germans like, it’s a good Hof (ah-thankyou).

This Hof, unfortunately, isn’t singing at the top of the Berlin Wall. However, it does claim to be the first ever grapefruit-infused hefeweizen (50% juice, 50% beer). Like everything else grapefruit, this beer smells and looks delicious. While my personal history with “big citrus” doesn’t allow me to say that it tasted delicious, I can honestly say it was quite refreshing. Also, the Schöfferhofer is 2.5% alcohol. If you like grapefruit, and taking forever to get drunk, this one’s for you. Best to try it on a hot summer day, though.
