Let’s get a touch political on the windowsill today.
Whatever your politics, it’s important to keep an even head about things. A couple of anti-Trump activist groups have called for a boycott of Ballast Point Brewing Company because their parent company, Constellation Brands, made some contributions to a committee headed by Paul Ryan, the Republican Speaker of the House. Although I may be with this group in general spirit and political leanings, this boycott is ill-conceived. First, the San Diego-based brewery has said they didn’t support the healthcare bill, nor Ryan, in any way. It was their parent company. Secondly, although they have more republican ties, Constellation has also contributed to Democratic causes in the past. BP might contribute money to Constellation, but they have no say as to where that money goes. It’s not simply a black and white issue. I support choosing to boycott if you must, but let’s use our heads.

Now, let’s get to the beer review. The Mango Even Keel is a session IPA, meaning it’s hoppy, but light. It pours a lovely amber color, the tropical mango smell carrying you away to the beach as it fills the glass. The taste is sweet and citrusy, very refreshing when ice cold. I liked this beer. Not the best ever, but it’ll do.
