We’re keeping it very local on the window sill today, with one of Connecticut’s newest breweries.

If there’s one thing to know about Counter Weight Brewing Co., it’s that it was founded by Matt Westfall. Who is Matt Westfall? Well, the Bristol, CT native used to hold it down over at New England Brewing Co., the top brewery in CT over the last 10 years. In fact, the second beer he ever created on his own for NEBCO was the legendary Gandhi-Bot. He made that at a time where there were no other DIPAs in CT. In my opinion, this makes him a burgeoning superstar of the craft brew game.

As for the Headway IPA, it’s the first Counter Weight beer to be distributed. If the rest of their stuff is half as good as this one, I might end up with a Counter Weight problem. It’s deliciously hoppy; tropical and sweet up front, but with a dank, piney, bitter finish. The balance is damn near perfect. Makes me glad to live in CT. Have to give a shoutout to my friends Scott and @rebelocd for sending this one my way.
