Put the beer on the window sill or put it not. There is no try.
Happy Star Wars Day, everybody! That’s right, May the 4th be with you. Did you know that former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was the inspiration for the first truly public utterance of this phrase? I’m sure Star Wars nerds like you and me were using that amongst each other before, but on May 4, 1979 (when Thatcher first took office), the Conservatives (her political party) took out an ad in the London Evening News saying “May the Fourth Be with You, Maggie. Congratulations.” In 2008, some Facebook groups began celebrating May 4 as Luke Skywalker Day, using the same phrase. In 2011, the first officially organized Star Wars Day took place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Today, I proudly celebrate it on the window sill with Long Trail Brewing Company‘s Space Juice. Yes, the rocket on the can looks more like something Duck Dodgers would ride to the moon, but at least it’s Darth Maul colors! As for the beer itself, it’s a limited release double IPA, and the hops are strong with this one. Long Trail basically took all of their favorite hops and used them generously to make a wonderfully bitter, tropical bit of cosmic goodness. It’s worthy of being served at the Mos Eisley Cantina, I can tell you that much. Yoda likes it!
