I dunno about Steve, but the window sill’s ready for another delicious beer!

This is the second SingleCut Beersmiths beer we’ve had on the sill, and the Astoria, Queens brewery has impressed me again. As we covered last time, founder Rich Bruceta loves music, and names just about everything he creates after something musical. I reached out to Single Cut to ask them a few questions about today’s featured brew, and here’s what I found out. First of all, the name on the label of this delicious double IPA is inspired by the hit song “Ballroom Blitz,” by The Sweet. In the original version (not the one performed by Tia Carrere’s band in Wayne’s World 2), lead singer Brian Connolly yells to his band: “Are you ready, Steve? Andy? Mick? Alright fellas, let’s go!”

Some might have left the band prep out of the final recorded version, but if Sweet had, we might not have this amazing beer. I also found out that Bruceta chooses all the names (sometimes before a beer has been brewed to match it) and designs all the labels himself in-house. Pretty cool! The Are You Ready, Steve is a rotating brew, that was recently brewed for only the second time. Hopefully, this one will stay in rotation. It’s high in ABV and even higher in IBUs, and the tropical, hoppy goodness makes it the perfect double IPA.
