Is that some Cuban jazz I hear playing on the window sill?

Tampa’s Cigar City Brewing has an interesting backstory. It was founded in 2007 by Tampa native Joey Redner, using some partial funding from Joey’s father Joe, who happens to be Tampa’s strip club king. By 2016, the company had reached the point where it couldn’t grow any further, so Render started looking for a partner. After negotiating with the dreaded Ab-InBev, Render chose to sell his brewery to Colorado’s Oskar Blues (who is, in turn, owned by a private equity firm).

The change in ownership hasn’t done much to change the quality of their beer, however, and the Guayabera proves that. It’s brewed with 100% Citra hops, which makes for a very citrusy and fruity taste. The low alcohol content also makes it very crushable. Much like the shirt from which this beer gets its name (check out the label art to see what a guayabera shirt looks like), this beer is super refreshing, and very functional. Made me want to go down to Tampa… in my guayabera, of course.
